FILMS, VIDEOS AND LITERATURE ABOUT CATS

December, the month of celebrations, is approaching, bringing with it the noise of fireworks, firecrackers, and other pyrotechnics. While this may be entertaining for some people, it disturbs and frightens animals. To reduce stress for cats and dogs during Christmas and New Year's Eve, animal experts have created films specifically designed for them. These films, which may seem abstract and surreal to humans, are meant to have a calming effect on animals.

British actor David Tennant, best known for his roles in Doctor Who and Broadchurch, contributed as a narrator in these films—one made for cats and another for dogs.

-The idea for these films, which aim to help pets and their owners relax during noisy evenings, came from a pet insurance company. The company collaborated with animal behavior specialist Karen Wild and veterinarian Robert White Adams, who ensured that the videos contain calming content for animals.

-Karen Wild, who participated in the filming, hopes that it will have a beneficial effect on cats and dogs suffering from a fear of noise: "Fear of noise in dogs and cats leads to stress, injuries and long-term behavioral problems, so it is important that their owners do what they can to keep them calm and relaxed. These films may seem strange to people, but they should be aware that cats and dogs perceive the world differently from humans and will respond to completely different audio and video signals. The film aimed at dogs features sleepy dogs and colorful landscapes, while the film for cats features rustling leaves and fish swimming in water, looking as if they are being watched through a window pane. The dog film is called Woofering Heights, named after Emily Bronte's 1847 novel Wuthering Heights, and the cat film is called Peer Window, named after Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 classic Rear Window. Both feature content that first attracts the animals' attention, then has a calming effect and puts them to sleep. Peer Window
is entirely filmed as if you were looking through a window, as cats like to stare out of windows in real life, while Woofering Heights was shot entirely in the dog color spectrum, i.e. in blues and yellows, to make it more effective. In the dog film, the camera slowly pans across a grassy landscape and then points to a calm, sleepy dog, all accompanied by David Tennant's narration, who speaks in a calm voice words and phrases that have been proven to be soothing to dogs.

Cats from the Web
Author: Žan Nekrep

Funny, awkward, unpredictable... Cats are certainly great court jesters who can bring moments of happiness and laughter to many a bad day. They appear in films, books,
commercials, and are also popular online.
Surely everyone has taken a five-minute break at work and watched a cute video
or photo with funny captions. What we like, we usually share on social networks,
or send an email to our friends to brighten their day a little. So
Istanbul: the real rulers of the city are cats
Istanbul is the cultural, economic and historical center of Turkey, known as Constantinople during the Ottoman Empire, and has been one of the most popular places in the world for thousands of years.
Popular for its magical atmosphere, inspiring colorful architecture and low prices. In
Istanbul, the real rulers of the city are cats. Istanbul is home to around 130,000 cats that roam freely. This is a city for cat lovers, where cats rule. In Muslim culture, cats are known as clean animals and guardians, as they catch mice and rats, helping to keep the city clean and the libraries safe. The Prophet Muhammad was known for his love of cats. Stories say that he once cut off a piece of his robe during prayer because a cat had fallen asleep on it, and he did not want to wake it. There are said to be around 130,000 feral cats in the city. The proverb says that if you kill a cat, you have to build a mosque as an apology. The cats of Istanbul do not officially have owners, but are collectively cared for by everyone. On street corners, there are containers where locals put food for the cats. Turkey is preparing a law that would legally prohibit the torture and abuse of animals. When visiting Istanbul, it is advisable to treat the feline rulers with respect. Istanbul has a feline soul. The residents of Istanbul's attachment to cats is best explained by the residents themselves. If a trip to Istanbul isn't on your bucket list yet (and it should be), the documentary Kedi (translated as "cat") offers a good explanation of Istanbul's feline soul. Director Ceyda Torun explores life in the city through the perspective of seven cats. Join the film's main characters as they walk the streets and rooftops of Istanbul - the world, love and God through a cat's perspective.
